Lyle Stacpoole

Lyle remembers the regular drives through country Victoria and the constant search for the occasional Steam Train puffing along deserted country railway tracks as they delivered goods to the country and took the long wheat-laden carriages back to the sea ports of Portland, Warnambool and Melbourne.

After moving to Balaklava on the Adelaide Plains in South Australia Lyle's train dream all came true as the family home was just 400 yards from the railway line running regular 4 or 5 trains a day, WOW! Lyle's work regularly took him to Port Wakefield, Snowtown and Red Hill where he then regularly saw The Indian Pacific and other inter-state haulages. He continues to use the train as regularly as possible and always carries a pen and paper for those inspirational moments that always occur on the rails.
